PCAC Goals
- Increase partnerships for providing children, families, and the community with strategies to prevent child abuse.
- Support, strengthen, and empower parents and caregivers to create a healthy and nurturing environment for children.
- Provide primary prevention awareness and activities for all parents because child abuse and neglect happens in all segments of our communities, including all income levels, geographic regions, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and those with special needs.
- Motivate and enable positive changes in individual behavior.
- Effectively involve the community in our issue for the long term.

Big Thanks to our Community Partners & Volunteers!
Volunteers from The Arc of Calaveras and the women in the Calaveras County Perinatal Substance Abuse Program assembled 7000 blue ribbon lapel pins and bookmarks and decorated blue ribbon trees to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. During select days in April, participating grocery stores, agencies and businesses throughout the county will be giving away blue ribbon lapel pins and bookmarks with tips to keep kids safe and families strong. Strengthening Families and our community partners are offering several parent workshops. Join us to learn and share real solutions to the challenge of being a parent. See our calendar of events!
The Arc provides support and services to individuals with developmental delays so they can better live, work, learn, and recreate in the mainstream of life. Research show that stresses are typically higher for a family with a child with emotional or physical challenges. These children are at an increased risk of abuse. Mothers in the Perinatal Substance Abuse Program often understand the cycle of trauma and violence that can lead to substance abuse. Both groups jumped to the task to protect children in our community. We thank you!
